Israel to answer Iranian propaganda with website

Wednesday, January 04, 2006 |
Israel is planning to set up a website in Persian to counter the anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli propaganda coming out of the Iranian government. The website will provide Iranians with official information on the State of Israel and its positions. The Foreign Ministry believes that Iranian youths are routine internet users and have managed to find ways around the regime's block on Western websites. More than 5 million Iranians surf the web. The idea to establish the website is based on the Foreign Ministry's successful Arabic website, al-Tawasul, which has become very popular in the Arab world. In the last two years, half a million Arab web surfers visited the site.
