Sharon's first wife, Maraglit, died in 1962 in an automobile accident. Sharon married Margalit’s sister, Lili, in 1963. She died of lung cancer in 2000.
He had two sons with Lili, Omri and Gilead, and one son with Margalit, Gur, who died in an accidental shooting in 1967.
He served in the IDF for more than 25 years, retiring with the rank of Major-General. He holds an LL.B in Law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1962).
