Sen. Obama on first visit to Israel

Tuesday, January 10, 2006 |

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, arrived in Israel on Monday night and will meet with Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. During the two-day visit, Obama is scheduled to tour the security fence and meet with top Palestinian officials. Attempts are being made to set up appointments with Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Obama has only served in the US Senate for a year, but has gained a reputation for his “evenhanded” policy regarding Israel and the Palestinians.
