Israel rejects Pat Robertson’s money

Tourism Minister Avraham Hirschon (photo) rejected funding from evangelical leader Pat Robertson after he suggested that the prime minister’s stroke was a punishment from God for withdrawing from Gaza. Robertson was to sign a deal to fund the Galilee Christian Heritage Center and agreed to raise more than $50 million to build the Heritage center on a 14-dunam plot of land on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Tourism Ministry Spokesman Ido Hartuv stated that this was an attack on Robertson rather than the evangelical community as a whole. "We reconsidered the deal and realized that we cannot sign with Robertson or anyone who supports his views," he said.
