Entrepreneurs eyeing Orthodox market

Ultra-Orthodox-owned businesses have skyrocketed as more of the religious community is venturing into the business world. Initiating and marketing their own projects serves to suit the ultra-Orthodox’s special needs through business means after years of being overlooked. Entrepreneurs discovered that 5,500 Haredi weddings are held each year generating revenues of nearly $100 million. “A couple invests $15-18,000 on average in all wedding related arrangements,” Ron Makrin, secular marketing agent said. They are also attracting customers through chains of lower-prices stores aimed at the religious community, which keeps Orthodox entrepreneurship going strong.
