Doctors who tried bringing Prime Minister Ariel Sharon out of an induced coma last week say there are no significant signs of waking up and are considering to declare his condition a vegetative state. This will only be declared if the prime minister remains unconscious and connected to a respirator into the next week. After stopping sedation, doctors placed Sharon under general anesthesia to perform a tracheotomy – cutting an opening in his neck and inserting a tube directly into his windpipe.
