Palestinian mother, son killed by IDF

Monday, January 16, 2006 |

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) mistakenly killed a Palestinian woman and her son in the village of Rajoub in Samaria when they fired on what appeared to be a terrorist hideout. The IDF was seeking fugitives after a feud between villagers. Initial reports said an army patrol fired at the house and someone returned fire, killing two people and wounding three. Although none of the Palestinians involved in the incident were wanted by the army, soldiers who searched the house afterwards found an M16 assault rifle, a gun, binoculars and ammunition. The army appointed a panel to investigate.
