Palestinian film about suicide bombers wins Golden Globe

Tuesday, January 17, 2006 |
Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad won a Golden Globe award for best foreign language film for “Paradise Now,” a story that portrays suicide bombers crossing into Israel. He views the Golden Globe as “recognition that the Palestinians deserve their liberty and equality unconditionally.” This film attempts to present arguments on all sides of the issue, which he believes makes it a “work of cinema.” Abu-Assad said he hopes this award is a prelude to an Oscar at the upcoming Academy Awards.
