Israel, EU and US holding talks on Iran sanctions

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 |

Israel is holding talks with the United States and the European Union to discuss the application of possible sanctions against Iran if they continue their nuclear program. Israel is urging the international community to place the Iranian case under the United Nations Security Council, which would be able to carry out the measures, which could include sanctions against Iranian oil exports; banning the Iranian soccer team from the World Cup; denying foreign travel visas for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; and restricting landings by Iranian civilian aircraft.
