Sheikh Nasrallah believes Ron Arad is dead

Thursday, January 19, 2006 |

Leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, said he believed Israeli Air Force aviator Ron Arad is dead. Arad disappeared after his plane was shot down over southern Lebanon in 1986 and has been missing ever since. Nasrallah has fought Israeli forces for over 18 years and has been involved with several prisoner exchanges. “My deduction is two words: ‘dead and lost,’” he said in a local TV interview. Yet, Eliad Shraga, Arad’s family lawyer said Nasrallah had no relevant information. “He is the master of manipulation,” Shraga said. Shin Bet (Secret Services) head Avi Dichter said as far as Israel is concerned Arad is still alive.
