Israir to operate regular flights to NY

Israir will operate regular scheduled flights rather than chartered flights between New York and Tel Aviv. "I think there is an explicit and essential public interest in adding a designated carrier to compete with El Al," Tourism Minister Avraham Hirschson said. Carriers wishing to have regular flights to and from Israel must have government approval. El Al is furious over the decision and will appeal to the Supreme Court with hopes to overturn the decision.
