Settlers seal Amona homes

Wednesday, January 25, 2006 |
In an attempt to prevent the government’s decision to evacuate the illegal settlement Amona, the leaders of the Council of Judea, Samaria and Gaza (Yesha) sealed off the nine homes located on a hilltop in the small settlement. “We are interested in preventing unnecessary violence,” the Yesha Council said after weeklong clashes between settlers and soldiers. This measure is being taken to prevent the inhabitation of the buildings which could prevent the need of razing them. Settlers are intending to petition of the High Court of Justice to rule against the evacuation. The government has scheduled Feb. 15 as the date for evacuation of the Jewish settlers living in the Hebron market building.
