Hamas defeats Fatah in Palestinian elections

Thursday, January 26, 2006 |
The terrorist organization Hamas won nearly all 16 electoral districts in Palestinian elections. Hamas won 70 of 132 parliamentary seats forcing some members of the current Palestinian cabinet, such as Prime Minister Ahmed Queria to resign. Hamas leaders said they are ready for a “political partnership” with Fatah. Hamas swept all the seats in Hebron and the Gaza Strip, four of six in Jerusalem, and four of five in Ramallah. Fatah won only in Kalkliya in the north and in Jericho. Key international leaders are urging Hamas to give up arms and change its militant ways.
