Norwegian magazine closes West Bank office

Thursday, February 02, 2006 |

The Norwegian Christian magazine, Magazinet, closed its West Bank office after it published Danish caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad and received threats from armed terrorist groups. Moslems consider any images of Mohammad to be blasphemous. Palestinian gunmen surrounded the offices and demanded an apology. Other European dailies reprinted the cartoons for many different reasons, claiming it is their “right to print the cartoons.” Reactions from the Middle East have been scathing. Some Middle Eastern countries have recalled their ambassadors to Denmark.
