Two soldiers wounded in ongoing Nablus operation

Tuesday, February 07, 2006 |
In an ongoing operation to nab a senior Islamic Jihad fugitive in Nablus, two soldiers were wounded by Palestinian gunfire. The Israeli army surrounded the building where they believed the Palestinian fugitives were hiding. After negotiations some men surrendered, but at that point others opened fire on the Israeli troops. This branch of Islamic Jihad had continuously attempted to smuggle explosive vests into Israel. A total of 19 Palestinians were arrested over night.
In Gaza, Israeli Air Force planes attacked a bridge leading to the Kassem launching ground. The IAF also struck a car, which is believed to have belonged to one of the local commanders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the terrorist wing of the Fatah faction. Al-Aqsa vowed revenge. “Our answer is open war on all Zionists, soldiers and civilians,” said spokesman Abu Qusai. Israel will consider closing checkpoints, cutting off the influx of workers from Gaza.
