Survey shows Israelis consider withdrawal useless

Monday, February 13, 2006 |

The majority of Israelis believe the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip was of no practical value, according to a survey conducted by the Geocartographic Institute. Most believed that the evacuation of the settlements in Gush Katif had damaging effects and that it was an ineffective way of fighting terror. Seventy percent said that the disengagement did not contribute towards peace, while 20 percent believed it had improved relations with the Arab world. In spite of this, many believe relations with the international community were bolstered.
