Police find Arab toddler in back of parked car

Wednesday, February 15, 2006 |
An Israeli-Arab child was found sleeping alone in his mother’s car near the beach in the coastal city of Netanya, north of Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening. He was taken to the police station where police realized he was an Arab after he failed to respond to Hebrew, English and French. The child stayed overnight at the home of the woman who found him until his mother’s boyfriend arrived at the station. He claimed they went into a store and didn’t want to wake the boy, but when they returned he was gone. Police found the child’s mother drunk and unable to walk. She was summoned to the station where the police will undergo an investigation to determine if this is a case of child negligence.
