Israel’s ice dancers are scheduled to perform in Turin on Friday. The city in which they are performing, Turin, Italy, was once filled with rich Jewish history and legacy. The Jews of Turin are taking advantage of this during these Winter Games. Exhibitions have opened along with city tours called, “Discovering Jewish life and culture,” which began in the 5th century. The most impressive monument of Jewish existence in Turin is the Casale Monferrato synagogue, which was transformed into a museum in 1969 when the government restored it. Today nearly 1,000 Jews remain in Turin.
