Police thwart attempted Jerusalem suicide bombing

Monday, February 20, 2006 |

Border police arrested three Palestinian youths from Bethlehem on Sunday as they attempted to carry out a suicide attack in Jerusalem. Israeli security officials said that Islamic Jihad, one of the Palestinian terrorist organizations, sees the possibility of Hamas decreasing its own terror activity, which would give Islamic Jihad the opportunity to become the leader in terrorism against Israel. The Israeli army has stepped up its activity, cracking down on local terror infrastructures in Nablus and the Gaza Strip.
