A Palestinian man with AIDS was required to hire two armed Israeli bodyguards to accompany him to treatments at Hadassah University Hospital in Ein Kerem. Doctors from Hebron confirmed the man was HIV positive, but for security purposes Israel prevented him from entering the country for treatments until the Physicians for Human Rights threatened to take them to the High Court of Justice. The Israeli army agreed to grant the AIDS patient an entry visa if he came in a special vehicle. The Palestinian Authority and the Physicians for Human Rights have funded the NIS 2,000 per treatment sum.
