Monday, February 27, 2006 |
Twelve people were injured on Monday at the Rafael defense plant near Haifa after an explosion during an arms test. Four of the injuries were described as moderate and two as lightl. “It is a work accident. We don't know exactly what, a chemical that blew up in a bottle,” Moshe Weizman, a regional police spokesman told Army Radio. Rafael makes sophisticated weapons, including missiles, tank armor and electronic warfare systems. Local fire officials said there has not been an accident at the site in the past 20 years.
