Life for former Gaza settlers has been hard, and while many farmers have lost their greenhouses few have received new plots of land in their relocated homes. Settler leaders and government officials have both said that compensation for greenhouses was not included in the Disengagement Law. While many settlers remain unemployed, farmers are faced with an even greater dilemma, as they were self-employed and have not received unemployment benefits. “The state hurt the farmers twice,” said Yoram Musavi, a farmer from Bedolah. “It hurt their soul and their family, and then took from them what was theirs and didn't give it back.”
