Jerusalem police arrested Hamas leader and Palestinian Legislative Councilor Mohammed Abu Tir and an associate in an East Jersusalem Hospital, accusing them of attempting to recruit hospital employees to take part in illegal Hamas activities. Abu Tir, second on Hamas' Palestinian parliment list, is a Jerusalem resident. Jerusalem police said Hamas members have recently attempted to recruit activists in other public institutions, such as the Israel Electric Company in East Jerusalem. Israel vowed to restrict movement of PLC members of Hamas after the militant group won 74 out of 132 seats in Palestinian parliament.
