Reports: Al-Qaeda planning attack nearly Israel-Jordan border

Monday, March 06, 2006 |
Intelligence reports show that the international terrorist group al-Qaeda is planning to abduct Israelis in Jordan, execute them and later publish photos of the murder. According to the information, al-Qaeda chief in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is behind the plan. Another intelligence warning reveals plans of al-Qaeda’s Iraqi branch to carry out a mega attack at the industrial factories in Irbid, Jordan, located on the border with Israel. Several Israeli factories operate in the Irbid area, employing thousands of Jordanian nationals. Security forces in Jordan thwarted an attack this weekend to blow up a hotel, a power plant and a shopping center. Israel’s Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said that the large attack foiled in Jordan demonstrates the growing threat of global Jihad organizations to Israel and its neighbors.
