Young US leaders visit Israel

Wednesday, March 08, 2006 |

Approximately 1,200 young American Jewish leaders just ended their visit to Israel after getting to know the country beyond the headlines. The approximately 1,200 visitors between the ages of 22-24 spent their time learning the social and cultural aspects of life in the Holy Land. These gatherings, organized by the United Jewish Communities (UJC) are usually held in Washington every two years, but this year organizers decided to hold the meeting in Tel Aviv in order to expose the young leaders to life in Israel. Visitors were able to see Israel is a young, technologically advanced society, which beyond its history is also lively, trip organizer Jenny Meyerhoff noted. She said Israel is "Not only security problems and religious fundamentalism."
