Woman attempts to swim her way into Israel from Egypt

Monday, March 13, 2006 |

The Navy spotted an American woman in the Red Sea attempting to swim from Egypt to Israel after her entry into Israel through the Taba border control was thwarted. The 35-year-old swimmer was taken to the police for interrogation. The woman claimed she is Jewish and is married to an Israeli living in Israel. The woman had been living in Egypt, had lived in Israel illegally in the past, and could not prove any of her claims. "We believe she is a weird person," the Eilat Police spokesman concluded after the strange incident. At the end of the interrogation, the woman was sent back to Egypt.
