Israelis traveling throughout the Sinai desert are at even greater risk as the threats of global jihad cells affiliated with al-Qaida have plans to abduct Israelis. This includes Israeli troops, border policemen and civilians. The terror cells, which are operating in the Jabal Halel region in northern Sinai were responsible for the bombings in Sharm e-Sheikh and Taba, which killed more than 100 people. The Israeli army is also on the outlook for Palestinian infiltrators who cross into Egypt from Gaza and reenter Israel at the Egypt-Israel border. Israeli officials have categorized the infiltrators into terrorists and instructors. They include, those attempting to enter Israel to carry out a suicide attack and those entering Israel to give information concerning rocket construction.
