The Israeli film “Close to Home” is opening all over Israel only on Thursday, but it has already gained international acclaim. The film, directed by Vidi Bilu and co-directed by Dalia Hager, was first screened at the Jerusalem Film Festival where it won the best screenplay prize and then received raving reviews at the Berlin International Film Festival. “Close to Home” has provoked interest worldwide because of its story that centers on young female soldiers. It follows the lives of two Israeli soldiers who come to realize the many lies that reflect Israeli reality. The story and film were inspired by Bilu’s experiences in the army. Many critics describe the film as “one of the biggest surprises” and “a very impressive film.”
