Bird flu found in Israel

The Avian Bird Flu made its way into Israel when hundreds of birds from Kibbutz Nachshon in southern Israel were found infected. The Ministry of Agriculture claimed on Sunday that they had destroyed all of the infected birds and that the situation was under control. However, the Nir Oz and Amioz communities criticized the Agriculture Ministry for not containing the bird flu, also found close to their kibbutzim. Israeli farmers raise each year nearly 200 million birds, 10 million turkeys and 7 million that lay eggs. Despite the infected birds, no shortage of poultry or eggs is expected this Passover, the ministry said.
