Party posters in Arab neighborhoods: Leave for compensation

Thursday, March 23, 2006 |

Arabs hurled rocks and bottles at campaigners of the right-wing party Herut for hanging posters in Arab neighborhoods telling Arabs to leave Israel. Herut leader Michael Kleiner was caught up in the scuffle. Kleiner told Arabs there that the Land of Israel was given to Isaac, not to Ishmael. Herut is calling on Arabs to leave Israel in exchange for compensation. Chairman of the Arab Hadash party Mohammad Barakeh said, “People like Kleiner who preach for ethnic cleansing and racism, belong in jail and not in the democratic arena." Shmuel Ari, Herut spokesman, said, "All we did was talk to them, it was a legitimate offer from us, but they preferred to respond with violence. We have no problem honoring them, but what they did was a disgrace to democracy.”
