Katsav to call Olmert to form his new government

President Moshe Katsav is slated to invite Kadima Chairman Ehud Olmert on Thursday to the President’s House to form his new government. This begins the initial stage when Olmert can officially form his coalition. Katsav has yet to meet with the United Torah Judaism faction in order to complete his consultative talks. Both Katsav and Supreme Court Justice Dorit Beinisch, who is the head of the Central Elections Committee (CEC), praised the election as a model of the democratic process. “Democracy in Israel is something that should not be taken for granted,” Katsav said. He also said that the elections for the 17th Knesset were among the quietest and most efficiently run he remembered.
