Ultra-Orthodox target porn sites

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 |

A group of ultra-Orthodox hackers erased Israeli porn sites and replaced them with a photo of the Lubavitch Rabbi who some consider the Messiah. Shocked by the obscene porn sites, the ultra-Orthodox launched a campaign to cause these porn sites to crash. Labeled, by some as the “ultra-orthodox electronic underground,” the hackers have concentrated their efforts on Hebrew sites. There are about 40 different porn sites operating in Israel and another 20 sex-related forums. Since the incident, the ultra-Orthodox website, “Shofar” was hacked into and replaced with anti-censorship and anti-religious content.
