Gazans urge PA to stop rocket attacks

Wednesday, April 12, 2006 |
Residents from some Gaza neighborhoods have appealed to the new Hamas-led Palestinian government to prevent the gunmen from firing Qassam rockets into Israel. The new PA cabinet is expected to hold a videoconference between Ramallah and Gaza City on Wednesday concerning the complaints of residents in the northern Gaza Strip. An appeal letter was sent to PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh from residents who targeted in Israeli retaliation in the past few weeks. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas recently placed security forces under his control to block Hamas from controlling them. Hamas officials have said that Abbas has been trying to curb their power as they are responsible for the lawlessness and anarchy in the Gaza Strip. Hamas members have mixed feelings on how to handle the situation.
