Tuesday, April 25, 2006 |
Three explosions shook the tourist resort town of Dahab, Egypt on Monday evening, killing 24 and wounding more than 62. This was the third terrorist attack in the Sinai Peninsula in the past 18 months claiming the lives of Westerners. Al-Qaida claimed responsibility for the attack. Egyptian security services said that two of the three explosions were the result of suicide bombings while the other is believed to have been a planted bomb. Israelis were not among those killed, but more than 30 Israelis returned to Israel overnight. The Interior Ministry urged all Israelis visiting Sinai to return home even if they are without their passports. They believe that 1,700 Israelis remain in Egypt.
