The Shin Bet, Israel’s Security Agency revealed that last week’s foiled terrorist attack at a Gaza crossing was funded by Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip. Since its victory in the Palestinian elections, this was the first time Hamas was directly connected to terrorist activity against Israel. Hamas has been funding and training the Popular Resistance Commmittee (PRC) cells, which regularly fire Qassam rockets at Israeli targets. A PRC representative said that Hamas also provides them with weaponry and professional assistance. The Shin Bet received information indicating that four senior Hamas officials were involved in the attack.
