Druze woman murdered in suspected honor killing

Thursday, May 04, 2006 |

The body of a murdered 25-year-old Druze woman was found late Wednesday afternoon in northern Galilee in what is believed to be an honor killing. Police sources believe that the woman was murdered by her own family members. Police suspect the murder was an “honor killing” and that the woman’s mother or father are directly involved. Honor killings are common in traditional Arab communities where women are murdered by their family members if family members believe the woman’s actions have damaged the family honor. Last October a young woman was murdered by her brother in another Druze village.
