Peres warns Iran to “be careful”

Israeli Vice Premier Shimon Peres warned Iran on Monday to stop calling for Israel’s destruction. While western nations believe that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon program, Iran has said it is meant for peaceful purposes. Peres implied that military action led by the Americans should be implemented if Iran keeps up its nuclear program. Peres was criticized by the Israeli press for his statements. Television defense analyst Yoav Limor said, “I’m quite sure Israel does not want to find itself in the same insane asylum as (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahamadinejad.” The UN Security Council is discussing if it should impose sanctions on Iran.
