Settlers unite to fight convergence plan

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 |
Settler leaders and rabbis are discussing what Jewish Law says concerning the preservation of settlements in the Palestinian territories and how to deal with future withdrawals and soldier refusals. "It's important to let our public know that their leaders are not working alone," said YESHA council spokeswoman Emily Amrusy. She conveyed that the council opposes all forms of violence including verbal. With hopes for change the council is working together with former Ashkenazi chief rabbi Avraham Shapira and political analysts to stay focused with their plan to fight Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s convergence plan as he seeks to give up more of Israel’s Land and unilaterally withdraw.
