Palestinian intelligence services received information regarding Islamic Jihad’s plans to assassinate Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Security in Abbas’ surroundings have since been beefed up. Israeli security has also been notified. Similar reports weeks ago revealed that Hamas had a similar plan, which the organization denied. Abbas has a very extensive personal security force that has undergone special training.
