PM Olmert meets settlers from Judea and Samaria

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with a group of settlers on Tuesday in his first meeting with them since taking office. He reiterated his plan for a large-scale unilateral withdrawal from Judea and Samaria. Olmert told the participants that with his convergence plan to withdraw from scores of isolated settlements he hoped to strengthen the major settlement blocs such as Ariel in Samaria. He said it was “the right thing to do” to maintain the Jewish character of the State of Israel. “If we do not decide [on Israel’s border], it will be decided for us,” Olmert told them.
