A group of Israeli lawmakers and former diplomats said on Monday that they plan to sue Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for conspiring to commit genocide, which violates the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention. “From our preliminary assessment, there’s no question that Ahmadinejad violated the genocide convention, which specifically addresses the issue of incitement to genocide,” said Dore Gold (photo), former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations. The team is in the process of looking for its best venue for the lawsuit. Palestinians have attempted to sue Israeli leaders and their cases have been thrown out. The Foreign Ministry had no comment, stating that it was a private initiative.
