Iranian students set up Palestinian ‘fund for demolishing Israel'

Monday, May 22, 2006 |
Some 300 students from the University of Tehran through the Movement of Justice-seeking Students announced on Sunday at an event that they were setting up a fund to destroy Israel. The name of the initiative, The Student Fund for Demolishing Israel, is their way of transmitting funds to the Palestinian government as opposed to their President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s call to “wipe Israel off the face of the map.” Javad Miri, the group's spokesman, told the Associated Press. “This is a symbolic move to attract public attention to the Palestinian cause at a time when Western countries have halted financial support to the Hamas-led government. When an elected government is in power in Palestine and Israel is pressuring it, everybody should help the Palestinians.”
