The Shin Bet (Israel Intelligence Agency), the Israeli army and an elite Border Police force arrested the head of Hamas' armed branch Ibrahim Hamed in Ramallah late Monday night. Hamed has been wanted by Israel since 1988 and is responsible for killing 55 Israelis including the terror attacks in 2002 at Hebrew University’s cafeteria and at Zion Square. Hamed surrendered when Israeli troops threatened to demolish the building he was hiding in. One Israeli colonel said that Hamas will have difficulty replacing Hamed. “What made him special was his creativity in finding very complex ways to attack Israelis,” the colonel told Army Radio.
