Gunmen shoot three Hamas members, one dies

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 |

Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded three unarmed Hamas members and dumped them in a gas station near the Khan Younis Refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. One died later in the hospital. The incident took place less than a day after Fatah and Hamas agreed to ease tensions. Fighting continued in the Khan Younis area and in Gaza City. Palestinian sources believe the unidentified gunmen to be members of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah faction. Renewed fighting will affect upcoming talks between the various Palestinian factions. The family of the Hamas member vowed to retaliate.
