The Israeli parliament has created its first-ever women’s council made up of Jewish and Christian women from around the world, the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus announced on Tuesday. “The issue of women’s rights and equality has to be adopted as an agenda,” said Caucus Chairman and Knesset Member Yuri Shtern. “We are going to address issues and use our influence to bring an end to evil against women,” said Kay Arthur of Precept Ministries and the chairwoman of the international board of the women’s council. Gila Gamliel, former Knesset member and honorary member of the KCAC, said Jews and Christians share the same values, thus the Knesset’s collaboration with Christian leaders. The new council will lobby governments to stop genital mutilation, abuse, trafficking, incest and honor killings of women. The council will hold an international summit in Jerusalem next year where they hope to train 1,500 women from all nations of the world to lobby their governments for women’s rights.
