With the ongoing clashes between the Hamas and Fatah terrorist organizations, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Fatah) and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh (Hamas) are hosting talks in Ramallah to ease tensions between the two factions. Abbas is expected to stress national unity and press Hamas to accept signed agreements with Israel. Abbas is also expected to remind Haniyeh that part of his responsibility in overseeing security is to negotiate peace with Israel. Haniyeh is expected to remind Abbas that Hamas is maintaining control of Palestinian violence with the territories. The talks will be broadcast live via satellite from Ramallah to Gaza.
