At only 19-years-old, Israeli Shahar Peer picked up her third title of the season when she defeated top seeded Russian Anastasia Myskina in the final of the Istanbul Cup. Peer not only received a check for $30,000, but has risen to number 26 in the world. “This is my biggest victory,” said Peer. “To beat someone ranked as high as Myskina, this was an amazing end to the tournament. I never gave up and I kept believing in myself. It's great to win another tournament just before the French Open so I'm going to go to Paris really high on confidence.” At the beginning of the season, Peer said she hoped to work on improving her technique and become a worthy opponent against top seeded players.
