Rocket propelled grenades were fired on Tuesday at a security compound in the Gaza Strip, wounding three maintenance workers, security officials said. Security personnel retaliated, but the assailants escaped. The compound is loyal to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas who is meeting with several representatives from the various Palestinian factions, with the exception of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, concerning a referendum on a “national reconciliation” document drafted by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. If Hamas fails to agree, then Abbas will have no choice, but to disband the Palestinian parliament and hold new elections.
