Defense Minister orders Israeli hospital to care for Palestinian girl

Wednesday, June 07, 2006 |  Staff Writer

Defense Minister Amir Peretz ordered Israeli hospitals on Wednesday to provide proper medical care for a Palestinian girl and her uncle wounded in an Israeli Air Force Strike two weeks ago in the Gaza Strip. The girl was admitted to the Alyn Hospital in Jerusalem despite its full capacity. The defense establishment had refused earlier to admit three-year-old Maria Mahani and her uncle Mohammed Dahduh, a member of Islamic Jihad. Now a panel will arrange proper funding for the girl’s medical care. Doctors for Human Rights told Israel Radio that the Palestinian Authority is paying for the medical treatment, but cannot afford the recovery.
