Sixteen-year-old Katherine Lester from Michigan planned on meeting a 25-year-old Palestinian man from Jericho she met while chatting on MySpace.com. She flew to the Middle East to meet him, but was persuaded by US officials in Jordan to return home. Katherine returned home on Friday. This straight-A student talked her family into allowing her to get a passport by saying she was going with friends to Canada. The FBI traced the teenager’s flight to Tel Aviv and convinced her to return home. “Katherine is a straight-A student and a student council member,” her father said. “She’s a good girl. Never had a problem with her.” MySpace.com is a social networking web site with more than 72 million members. There have been various accounts of sexual predators targeting minors on the site.
